Kali Puja is extremely popular in Bhagalpur , Tamluk , Barasat , Naihati and Barrackpore It coincides with the Lakshmi Puja day of Diwali. While the Hindu Bengalis, Aangis, Odias, Assamese and Maithils worship the goddess Kali on this day, the rest of India and Nepal worships goddess Lakshmi on Diwali.

Why is Kaali Puja celebrated:

Kali Puja is celebrated to seek the help of the goddess in destroying evil and get her blessings for general happiness, health, wealth, and peace. The puja rituals of Kali Puja take place at night. Devotees perform the puja using red hibiscus flowers as it is said to be her favourite.
